The Supreme Court is to take up today (11th December, 2012), the hearing of petitions challenging the conduct of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The NEET-PG is the unified entrance exam introduced for the first time by the Medical Council of India (MCI) with the aim of providing relief to candidates from the arduous task of appearing for individual entrance examinations conducted by different colleges.
Many states had raised protests against NEET-PG and had filed cases in various Highcourts. Several institutions have already announced the dates of individual entrance examinations. The MCI was asked by the apex court to approach the Supreme court . The verdict of the Supreme court is being eagerly awaited by millions of students and parents across the country.The final verdict is expected tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the NEET-PG has come to an end on Dec 6th. Around 95,000 students participated in the online tests. NEET-UG 2013 registrations are now open. The closing date of registrations (without fine) is 31st December, 2012.
